The relationship with your father shapes more than you think.
Whether your father was absent, emotionally unavailable, critical, controlling, abusive—or simply someone you could never really reach—his influence may still be present in the way you live, love, lead, and relate today.
About This One-Day Urban Retreat
The Father wound is a one-day urban retreat for men who want to better understand how their relationship with their father—or a significant father figure—may still be influencing their lives today.
Whether your experience was shaped by absence, emotional distance, criticism, control, neglect, abuse, or simply a lack of connection, this retreat provides a structured, trauma-informed environment to explore those experiences with curiosity rather than blame.
Throughout the day, you'll gain practical insight into the lasting effects of father wounds, engage in guided conversations with other men, and experience TRE® (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises) to help regulate the nervous system and release accumulated stress held in the body.
This is not about judging the past. It is about understanding your story, recognising patterns that no longer serve you, and creating greater freedom in how you choose to live today.
This workshop is psychoeducational and peer-support based, not group therapy, and is not intended to replace individual mental health treatment.
Main Focus
The retreat is designed to help men:
Explore the influence of their father or father figure on their identity and relationships.
Understand how childhood experiences can shape adult attachment, self-worth and emotional responses.
Learn how unresolved experiences may be held in both the mind and the body.
Experience safe, guided conversations with other men in a confidential environment.
Use TRE® (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises) to support nervous system regulation and the release of stored tension.
Develop greater self-awareness, emotional resilience and personal responsibility.
Identify practical next steps for continued personal growth.
Potential outcomes
While every man's journey is unique, participants may leave with:
A deeper understanding of their personal father story.
Greater awareness of behavioural and relationship patterns.
Improved insight into attachment styles and emotional triggers.
Reduced physical tension and increased body awareness through TRE®.
A stronger sense of connection after sharing with other men in a supportive environment.
Increased self-compassion and emotional clarity.
Practical tools for ongoing self-reflection and emotional regulation.
Clear next steps, whether through personal practice, men's groups, coaching, or individual therapy where appropriate.
Who will benefit from this full day retreat?
This retreat is suitable for adult men (18+) who are emotionally stable enough to participate in a structured group learning experience.
It may be particularly valuable for men who:
Grew up with an absent, distant or emotionally unavailable father.
Experienced criticism, control, neglect or abuse from a father figure.
Find themselves repeating unhealthy relationship patterns.
Struggle with self-worth, vulnerability or emotional expression.
Want to better understand themselves without blame or shame.
Are interested in body-based approaches such as TRE® alongside practical psychoeducation.
Value personal growth within a respectful, confidential group of men.
Please note: This retreat is not group psychotherapy and not a substitute for individual mental health treatment. Men experiencing severe psychological distress, active trauma symptoms, or a mental health crisis are encouraged to seek appropriate professional support before participating.

What to wear
Comfortable, loose clothes during the retreat and something warm for the evenings.
Prerequisites
No previous experience of massage, yoga or bodywork is needed but would be an advantage eg. Aquabliss or a Massage Exchange
Nudity
This is a fully clothed retreat. We invite you to set aside the masks we often wear—expectations, roles, and old patterns—and simply show up as yourself. Come in comfortable clothing, with an open mind and a willingness to explore your story in a safe, respectful, and supportive environment.
Is this for me?
This event is open to men regardless. Often we can give ourselves a hard time on how we think we look to others, and this is an opportunity to go beyond that, to be vulnerable and to let others accept you just as you are. With open hearts, with an openness to accept everybody, let the magic of touch take you to new parts of yourself you never knew existed. Read more if you have any more questions
